Alex Matias serves as the Vice President for Operations and Engagement at Children Now. In this role, he oversees the People, Finance, Development and The Children’s Movement (TCM) work.

Mr. Matias is an Operations Executive with fifteen years of corporate and nonprofit management experience. Prior to joining Children Now, Mr. Matias was a Director at Arabella Advisors, a philanthropic consulting firm, where he served as the operations lead for a portfolio of fiscally sponsored projects in issue areas ranging from the environment to civic engagement and children’s health. He also led a team that supported board of directors for national 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) public charities.

His previous experience includes compliance, operations and risk management work with KIPP Northern California, a public charter school network, and Starr Companies, an investments and insurance firm in New York. Mr. Matias has a deep commitment to public service and youth, currently serving on city commissions in Vallejo, CA and supporting community youth development initiatives. In his spare time, Mr. Matias visits other cities throughout the state of California with his wife and daughter.

Mr. Matias is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) where he earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA). He also graduated from Ithaca College, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration – Finance, with a concentration in Economics.
