There is striking evidence of a growing crisis in the health and well-being of California’s children. As detailed in The California Children’s Trust Initiative: Reimagining Child Well-Being1, nearly all children and youth in California are vulnerable to, or already experiencing, social, emotional, mental, and developmental stressors and impairments. Yet paradoxically most children are not receiving any supports, including services covered by their health insurance. This is true for children in California at every developmental stage.
