Children Now President Ted Lempert’s Statement on the 2025-26 State Budget May Revision

OAKLAND, CA – Children Now President Ted Lempert issued the following statement today in response to the Governor’s 2025-26 California state budget May Revision:

“The Administration’s proposed cuts to kids in the May Revise proposal are a major step backwards for children’s well-being. Despite the current turbulent environment, kids should never be the ones put on the chopping block, and the proposed cuts to foster youth, education, health and child care put them even more at risk, especially as federal threats to funding remain persistent. Last year the Governor and Legislature showed great leadership in finally prioritizing kids in the state budget after decades of California falling behind other states; we strongly urge them to do so again and reverse these proposed cuts.”
