Sydney Albert is a rising third year at Duke University, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Minor in Education, and Child Policy Research Certificate. Sydney loves children, and worked the past few summers as a camp counselor for kids aged 3-4. She is passionate about fighting for education equity, and spent two years as a sixth grade teacher at her religious school, as well as the social media director for a candidate running for the Durham Board of Education. At Duke, Sydney is an undergraduate research assistant for the Duke Early Experience and Developing Brain lab, which strives to integrate early childhood mental health research, practice, and policy to inform social policies that will help support a strong, healthy foundation for young, vulnerable children. She also is an executive board member of Duke DevilThon, Duke’s chapter of the nationwide Dance Marathon movement to raise money for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Sydney is excited to dive into policy with Children Now and advocate for children in the state of California this summer!
