Saleena is a third-year student at UC Irvine double majoring in Sociology and Social Policy and Public Service. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s in social work. Saleena immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve from Nepal and ever since has had a passion for working with different non-profit organizations and serving her community. On campus, she is involved with various organizations that provide volunteer and service opportunities to be able to give back to different communities in Orange County.
She is very excited to be working with Children Now this summer and she hopes to learn more about advocacy and working in the non-profit sector. She has prior experience working with local organizations like CAPOC and OC Food Bank to help dismantle food insecurity in Orange County. Through this Equity Fellowship, Saleena hopes to gain a better understanding of the foundational work that goes behind policy work.
