Josefina Ramirez NotsinnehDirector, Early Childhood, Dual Language and English Learners

    Josefina has dedicated her career to working with a wide-range of public affairs, governmental and corporate entities on successful legislative, community outreach, advocacy, and media relations campaigns. Throughout her career, Josefina has been a part of developing successful state and local policies and programs that meet the needs of diverse communities in California.

    Josefina recently re-joined the Children Now team to lead Children Now’s coalition and policy efforts in early childhood and dual language learner/English learner policy development and advocacy work. Josefina was previously at Children Now and focused her efforts on Education and Early Learning Teams. Following that experience, Josefina was appointed by Governor Newsom to be the Deputy Director of the Office of Legislation and Communications at the California Department of Rehabilitation.

    Prior to her time at Children Now, Josefina spent four years at Ogilvy Public Relations, in their Sacramento public affairs practice, as a key member of the West Coast Latino outreach specialty team. Prior to Ogilvy, she spent almost a decade working in California government and politics, progressing from completing California’s prestigious “Assembly Fellowship” program, serving as a legislative aide, consultant, being a committee consultant with the Assembly business and professions committee, and serving as the capitol director for a legislator.

    She is passionate about her community and family, and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
