Anika Dandekar is a rising junior at UC San Diego. She will be double majoring in Economics and Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy. She has spent many years working with Pre k- 12 children at summer camps, Boys & Girls Club, and Mathnasium. At UCSD’s Teaching and Learning Commons she tutored peers in college economics, statistics, and calculus courses. She also has done extensive outreach and advocacy work with other nonprofits like Planned Parenthood and ACLU. Recently, she was involved in two political science research projects- one on the Trump Travel Ban and another studying political violence worldwide. Anika is also on the Executive Boards of Triton Lobby Corps- a group that advocates for student interests in local and state government- and UCSD College Democrats. She is excited to learn how grassroots and nonprofit organizations like Children Now interact with politics and the policy making process, and is eager to make structural change to uplift kids.
