Mental illness is the number one reason children in California are hospitalized – in part because the current mental health system is fragmented and difficult to navigate. Some counties have focused on how to best coordinate care for youth using a mix of federal, state, and local funding streams. This brief focuses on funding from the Mental Health Services Act, and how counties are continuing to determine how to best use those dollars to support kids.
