Senior Associate, Education & Early Childhood
Mr. Aguilar supports Children Now’s education efforts through the development of community engagement and empowerment strategies and partnership to strengthen the connection between state level policy and local level implementation and practice. Prior to joining Children Now, he worked as a School Climate and Culture Specialist in the Youth Engagement Services Unit at Sacramento City Unified School District. In this role he helped to shape and strengthen the implementation of high quality expanded learning time programming in the district.
Mr. Aguilar also brings experience of designing leadership programming, professional development and facilitating results-driven decision-making. This experience has been gained through his work with the Alliance for Education Solutions on a data- and results-driven decision making effort in turning around school culture; providing support within the WestEd led Mayor’s Roundtable and efforts among a collaborative of organizations on a project to mobilize students to improve the educational outcomes in California schools; and in serving as the Director of the California Center for Civic Participation’s School Health Youth Leadership Program.
Mr. Aguilar graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in both Political Science & Comparative Literature and has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from CSU Sacramento.
