Senior Associate, Education & Early Childhood
Mr. Aguilar supports Children Now’s education efforts through the development of community engagement and empowerment strategies and partnership to strengthen the connection between state level policy and local level implementation and practice. Specific policy focus areas include: Local Control Funding Formula, Early Childhood, After School, and STEM.
Prior to joining Children Now, Mr. Aguilar served within various roles that provided him with a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist in helping to shape and translate policy into meaningful and impactful practices at the local level. This experience is derived from nearly two decades of work within the non-profit and public service arenas in the capacity of a school district administrator, school turnaround consultant, communications specialist, nonprofit management consultant, policy advocate, and youth development champion. Mr. Aguilar taps into his experience from each of these roles to help organizations and systems leverage policy opportunities to improve outcomes for our kids.
Mr. Aguilar graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in both Political Science & Comparative Literature and has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from CSU Sacramento.
