Foothill-De Anza Community College District, Trustee
Laura Casas has served on the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees since 2005.
She serves on the district’s Audit and Finance Committee and the statewide Community College League of California.
Laura’s passion for education led her to chair the Adelante Higher Education Conference for five years to encourage underrepresented high school girls to pursue higher education. Presently, she is Vice President of Parent Education for the Santa Clara County Sixth District PTA, and a member of the Santa Clara County League of Women Voters’ Education Committee.
She co-founded a transitional home for domestic violence victims and their children as a member of WAVE, Women Advancing the Valley though Education, Economics and Empowerment, and was recognized with an Outstanding Dedication to Women Award for that work. Laura is a graduate of the leadership institute run by HOPE, Hispañas Organized for Political Equality.
Raised and educated in California, Laura has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University at Northridge and a law degree from Santa Clara University.
She was recently awarded the La Raza Alumni Achievement Award from California State University at Northridge.
